At D.A.V. Public School, Pathargama, we follow a comprehensive and well-structured examination system aligned with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) guidelines. Examination Structure

Our academic year is divided into two terms, with periodic assessments conducted throughout the year to ensure regular monitoring of student progress.

  • Periodic Tests (3 per year) - 10 marks each
  • Half-Yearly Examination - 80 marks theory
  • Pre-Board Examination (Class X) - 80 marks theory
  • Annual/Final Examination - 80 marks theory
  • Internal Assessment - 20 marks (includes assignments, projects, notebooks, subject enrichment)
  • Practical Examinations (Classes IX-X) - As per CBSE norms
CBSE Examination Pattern
Aligned with National Standards

Our examination system strictly follows CBSE guidelines. For Class X, students appear for the Board Examination conducted by CBSE. For Classes IX, the school conducts annual examinations as per CBSE pattern.

Assessment Structure for Different Classes

Classes Nursery - II
Continuous Assessment

No formal examinations. Assessment is done through observation, worksheets, oral tests, and activity-based evaluation focusing on foundational literacy and numeracy.

Classes III - V
Formative & Summative Assessment

Two Periodic Tests + Half-Yearly + Annual Examination. Emphasis on conceptual clarity and application-based questions.

Classes VI - IX
CBSE Pattern Assessment

Three Periodic Tests + Half-Yearly + Pre-Final + Annual Examination. Internal assessment of 20 marks includes notebook submission, subject enrichment, and periodic tests.

Class X (Board Level)
CBSE Board Examination

Three Periodic Tests + Half-Yearly + Pre-Board (two exams) + CBSE Board Examination. Extensive preparation and remedial classes for board aspirants.

Internal Assessment (20 Marks) Breakup

As per CBSE guidelines, 20 marks of internal assessment are allocated for each subject in Classes VI to X:

  • Periodic Tests (10 marks): Average of best two out of three periodic tests
  • Notebook Submission (5 marks): Regularity, assignment completion, neatness, and upkeep of notebooks
  • Subject Enrichment Activities (5 marks): Practical work, lab activities, projects, map work, listening skills, speaking skills, etc.

Examination Schedule

The academic session (April to March) follows a well-planned examination calendar:

  • Periodic Test - I: May/June (after summer break)
  • Periodic Test - II: August
  • Half-Yearly Examination: September/October

  • Pre-Board Examination (Class X): January
  • Pre-Board - II (Class X): February
  • Annual/Final Examination: February/March

Examination Guidelines for Students

Important Instructions
Code of Conduct

Students must arrive 15 minutes before the examination. School uniform is mandatory. Electronic devices, including mobile phones and smartwatches, are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.

  • Carry valid school ID card and admit card (for Class X board exams)
  • Use only blue or black pen for writing answers
  • No unfair means or malpractice will be tolerated
  • Leave the examination hall only after submitting the answer sheet
  • Maintain silence and discipline inside the examination hall

Result Declaration & Analysis

Results are declared within 15 days of examination completion. We provide:

  • Detailed Mark Sheets: Subject-wise marks, grades, and percentage
  • Performance Analysis: Individual student performance reports with strengths and areas for improvement
