Code of Conduct & Discipline Policy

At D.A.V. Public School, Pathargama, discipline is the cornerstone of academic excellence and character building. Our rules and regulations are designed to create a safe, respectful, and conducive learning environment where every student can thrive. We expect all students, parents, and staff to adhere to these guidelines, which are rooted in the D.A.V. legacy of value-based education.

These rules apply to all students from Nursery to Class X. Compliance is mandatory for continued enrollment. The school reserves the right to take disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion, in case of serious or repeated violations.

General Discipline

Core Values
Respect, Responsibility & Integrity

Every student must respect teachers, staff, fellow students, and school property. Politeness, honesty, and good manners are expected at all times.

  • Students must greet teachers and staff whenever they meet them on campus.
  • Running, shouting, or playing in corridors and classrooms is strictly prohibited.
  • Littering on campus is not allowed. Students must use dustbins.
  • Damage to school property (furniture, walls, equipment) will result in fine and disciplinary action.
  • Bullying, ragging, fighting, or use of foul language is strictly prohibited and will lead to severe punishment.
  • Students must not bring any sharp objects, weapons, or hazardous materials to school.
  • Political activities, religious propaganda, or caste-based discrimination is forbidden on campus.

Attendance Rules

Regularity is Key
Attendance Requirements

As per CBSE norms, minimum 75% attendance is mandatory for promotion to the next class and for appearing in board examinations.

  • Students must arrive at school before the first bell (7:45 AM). Latecomers will be sent back home after three warnings.
  • Leave of absence requires a written application from parents. For medical leave, a doctor's certificate must be attached.
  • No leave is granted during examinations, tests, or practical exams except for medical emergencies.
  • Continuous absence for 15 days without intimation will result in name striking off the rolls.
  • Students must sign the attendance register in their classroom every day.
  • Parents must inform the class teacher if the child will be absent for more than 3 days.

School Uniform Guidelines

Pride & Identity
Prescribed Uniform

School uniform must be worn on all working days. Proper attire reflects discipline and school pride.

Summer Uniform (April – September)
  • Boys: White half-sleeved shirt, navy blue shorts/trousers, navy blue socks, black shoes, school belt, and tie.
  • Girls: White half-sleeved shirt, navy blue skirt/trousers, navy blue socks, black shoes, school belt, and tie.
Winter Uniform (October – March)
  • Boys: White full-sleeved shirt, navy blue trousers, navy blue sweater/blazer, navy blue socks, black shoes, school belt, and tie.
  • Girls: White full-sleeved shirt, navy blue trousers, navy blue sweater/blazer, navy blue socks, black shoes, school belt, and tie.
General Uniform Rules
  • Uniform must be clean, ironed, and in good condition.
  • Name tag and house badge must be pinned on the shirt.
  • Sports uniform (house color T-shirt and navy blue shorts/track pants) is required on PT days.
  • Hair must be neatly combed. Boys must keep hair short. Girls with long hair must tie it in two plaits or a ponytail.
  • Nails must be trimmed and clean. No mehendi, nail polish, or jewelry allowed.
  • Colored or stylish haircuts, gel, or spikes are not permitted.

Academic Regulations

  • Homework must be completed and submitted on time. Late submissions will result in marks deduction.
  • Students must bring all textbooks, notebooks, and stationery as per timetable.
  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, cameras, or any electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited on campus.
  • Cheating or unfair means during examinations will lead to cancellation of paper and disciplinary action.
  • Students must maintain separate notebooks for each subject as per instructions.
  • Progress reports must be signed by parents and returned within 3 days.
  • Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) are mandatory for parents of all students.

Note: Any prohibited item found in possession will be confiscated and not returned. Disciplinary action will follow.

Code of Conduct for Students

Student Responsibilities
Expected Behavior

Every student is an ambassador of D.A.V. Public School. Conduct both inside and outside school must uphold the school's reputation.

  • Stand up and greet when a teacher or elder enters the classroom.
  • Maintain silence and attentiveness during class hours.
  • Raise hand before speaking or asking a question.
  • Keep the classroom clean and orderly.
  • Help fellow students in academic and co-curricular activities.
  • Participate actively in morning assembly.
  • Report any wrongdoing or damage to property to the class teacher.
  • Be honest and truthful in all dealings.
  • Do not waste food, water, or electricity.

Rules for Parents & Guardians

  • Parents must ensure their child completes homework and studies regularly.
  • Check the school diary daily for notices and teacher feedback.
  • Attend all PTMs and school events as scheduled.
  • Inform the school immediately of any change in address, phone number, or emergency contact.
  • Do not enter classrooms during school hours without prior permission.
  • Avoid using mobile phones on school premises.
  • Encourage children to speak in English at school and home.
  • Do not pressurize teachers for extra marks or unfair favors.
  • Report any concerns or grievances to the principal in writing.

Hostel Rules & Regulations (For Boarders)

Residential Discipline
Hostel Code of Conduct

Hostel students must follow additional rules to ensure a safe, healthy, and disciplined residential life.

  • Wake-up bell at 5:30 AM. Morning routine must be completed by 6:30 AM.
  • Study hours are mandatory from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Silence must be maintained.
  • Lights out at 9:30 PM for junior students and 10:00 PM for seniors.
  • Rooms must be kept clean and tidy. Beds must be made before leaving for school.
  • Personal belongings must be labeled and kept organized.
  • No leaving the hostel premises without written permission from warden/parents.
  • Visitors are allowed only in the designated area with prior permission.
  • Ragging of any form is a criminal offense and will lead to immediate expulsion.
  • Meals must be taken in the dining hall at scheduled times.
  • Electrical appliances (heaters, irons, etc.) are not allowed in rooms.

Transport Rules

  • Students must reach the bus stop 5 minutes before scheduled arrival time.
  • No eating or drinking inside the bus.
  • Maintain discipline inside the bus. Do not lean out of windows or shout.
  • Do not damage bus seats or windows. Damage will be charged to the student.
  • Only designated bus stops are allowed. Changes require written application.
  • If a student misses the bus, parents must drop the child to school.
  • Bus fees must be paid on time to avoid discontinuation of service.

Disciplinary Consequences

Violation of rules will result in disciplinary action as per the severity:

  • Level 1 (Minor Offenses): Verbal warning, written warning in diary, extra assignments, or community service.
  • Level 2 (Moderate Offenses): Parent meeting, loss of privileges, detention, or suspension from co-curricular activities.
  • Level 3 (Serious Offenses): Suspension from school for 1-10 days, fine, or probation.
  • Level 4 (Very Serious Offenses): Expulsion from school with negative remarks in transfer certificate.
Serious Offenses Leading to Immediate Expulsion:
  • Ragging or bullying
  • Physical assault on any student or staff
  • Possession or consumption of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs
  • Theft or vandalism
  • Cheating in board examinations
  • Bringing weapons or explosives to school
  • Misconduct during school trips or events

Grievance Redressal Mechanism

The school has a transparent grievance redressal system. Students, parents, or staff can submit complaints in writing to the class teacher or principal. Complaints will be addressed within 7 working days. For serious issues, a disciplinary committee will investigate and take appropriate action.
